WHO WE ARE
LIVE-ADDIS (Livelihood Improvement for Vulnerable Ethiopians) was established in May 2005 and is registered with the Ethiopian Authority for Civil Society Organization (ACSO) under registration number 0241. Located in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Our organization is driven by a vision to empower and build resilient urban and semi-urban communities in Ethiopia, particularly focusing on socially and economically vulnerable women, children, youth, and marginalized citizens.
With an active general assembly and a board composed of seven experienced individuals, including three females and four males, LIVE-ADDIS has dedicated 18 years to integrated community-based livelihood improvement programs. Our initiatives have provided sustainable income opportunities through various developmental interventions, contributing to national goals of gender equality and poverty reduction by 2030.
Committed to safeguarding program participants from exploitation and abuse, LIVE-ADDIS has developed comprehensive strategic documents, operational procedures, and safeguarding manuals. We prioritize the empowerment of women and youth, aiming to make them productive, competent, confident, self-supportive, and self-reliant.
Beyond our core mission, LIVE-ADDIS actively participates in various forums and networks, holding memberships in organizations such as CCRDA, Ethiopian Civil Societies Council (ECSC), Basic Education Network Ethiopia (BEN-E), Youth Network for Sustainable Development Ethiopia (YNSD), PHE-Ethiopia Consortium, and others. We are steering committee members for several key forums and initiatives, demonstrating our commitment to collaborative efforts.
Our governance structure comprises the General Assembly, the Board, and the Secretariat. The General Assembly, the highest decision-making body, convenes annually to discuss and approve strategic matters. The Board, elected from the General Assembly, supports the organization in policy, strategic, and technical aspects. The Secretariat is responsible for program development, implementation, and day-to-day affairs.
LIVE-ADDIS has garnered recognition, awards, and support from the community, local government, donors, and stakeholders, showcasing the positive impact of our innovative intervention approaches.
